Dwight Eisenhower
- After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Eisenhower was assigned to the General Staff in Washington.
- He made plans to defeat Germany and Japan.
- Soon became the Chief of the War Plans Division.
- Throughout his career he showed impressive leadership and organization skills.
- Appointed to be Commander of European Theater of Operations on June 24th, 1942.
- Followed up by becoming the Lieutenant General.
- Commanded the Allied Forces in the last great counter-attack by the Germans.
- Known as one of the most important Generals in WWI and II.
- Went onto being the President of the US in 1953-61.
Hideki Tojo
- The "All Power" dictator.
- Leader in the military "Junta" that controlled Japan and a minister of war.
- He was appointed Prime Minister of Japan on Oct. 14, 1941.
- Authorized the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941.
- Made the fatal error of underestimating the US.
Hitler
- Hitler was born in Braunau am Inn, Austria on April 20, 1889.
- Throughout his childhood, Hitler wanted to become an artist. He applied twice to the Vienna Academy and was denied both times.
- There isn't an answer for why Hitler became anti-semitic. It could be the Jewish doctor that let his mother die or living on the streets of Vienna, a city known at the time for antisemitism.
- Hitler fought for Germany in World War I.
- He became the chancellor and the leader of Germany and tried to expand the land and armed forces.
- Running into problems, he made it a point to invade Poland, beginning World War II.
- He led the Nazi Party to the killing of over 6 million Jews.
- Hitler committed suicide before the end of the war on April 30th, 1945.
Harry Truman
- Served in World War I (1914-1918)
- Assumed presidency as the 33rd president of the United States on April 12, 1945.
- He influenced a lot of citizens in many ways, good and bad.
- Truman's use of Atomic bombs on Japan led to the ending of WWII.
- Helped restore post-war Europe.
- Worked to contain communism.
- Led the US into the Korean War (1950-1953)
Winston Churchill
- Served as Britain's Prime Minister from 1940-1945 and 1951-1955
- Leader of Britain's fight against Nazi Germany.
- Gave many influential speeches for the nation during the war.
- Was friends with Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman.
- Hoped to join the Americans to help end Joseph Stalin's ability to take over European affairs.
